Joe had the honor of being nominated for the 2024 Advocate of the Year by the Sister Rose Marie Nigro Emergency Support Center in Longview, Washington.
The following is their nomination statement:

“After the horrific murder of his daughter, Brittany, Joe Thuney wrote the book UNIMAGINABLE LOSS, which chronicles Brittany’s story, followed by the family’s journey through the court system while also trying to heal from their loss. Joe has used his platform, through his book and speaking engagements, to bring the plight of other victims and victim’s families to light. He is committed to not letting the voices of these people be silenced or forgotten. Joe has gone in front of State Representatives to advocate for the rights of survivors. He works closely with NWCave (National Women’s Coalition Against Violent and Exploitation).
We feel that Joe Thuney is deserving of this award because he uses the pain that his family has experienced to motivate change in the justice system, as well as offer hope and healing for all whose lives are impacted forever by such atrocities. His courage and determination are inspiring.”

Joe has been featured by news reporters at KATU, KGW, and KPTV, interviewed by podcasters, and has been the featured speaker at numerous advocacy events.
